“We have been writing an article in GA Advertiser for 2 years now and feel we are becoming in danger of merely repeating what has been said in those previous editions. So, starting this month and in future months we intend to provide only essential information about our Society meetings, sufficient to let any golfers know the required details.

Where: El Plantio Golf Resort.
This is situated 14 km from GA and takes less than 15 minutes to travel there by car. The official address is A-79, Km 3, 03114, Alicante.

When: the formal Society Day is Tuesday’s weekly when all golfers are most welcome. In addition we have an informal get together on Friday’s weekly which has always been a Gentleman’Day.

Time: on both days our agreed tee time is 8am so we require golfers to meet by the shop at the Course no later than 7.40am. Occasionally the Starter may request that we change the time so unless you are a regular golfer with us it would be best check with us beforehand.

Cost: at peak times the usual price for a round playing with the Society but payable direct to the Course on the day is c.€50 to include a buggy with an additional €1.50 mandatory insurance charge. During off peak months the price is less but all costs are substantially cheaper than the “off the street” prices charged by the Course. The Society requires €5 sweep money from each golfer which is all paid out at the end of the round.

Whilst the above will be the standard format henceforward we will of course use the column to advise any special circumstance that might arise at any particular time in the relevant issue of this magazine.

As always new members and/or guests are welcome, whether a full time resident, someone with your own holiday home or a holiday maker in the region. We would love to see you.

Designed by Manuel Ferri Sanchez and opened in 1993, El Plantio Golf Club has 36,000 trees and 3 lakes. Its design is varied and the greens and fairways are in excellent condition. Absence of building construction on this peaceful course. Located 2 kms from Alicante International Airport and 3 Kms from the city centre. On the 13th hole there is a waterfall that flows into two lakes on the fairway, and the garden areas have been developed to enhance the surroundings and add to the enjoyment of playing this course.
