This month’s interview is with Leroy Andre Williamson. Leroy lived in GA for 2 years helping residents and holiday home owners keep fit and healthy. In February this year TV and internet personality Joe Wicks, The Body Coach, made a HUGE announcement. He wanted 3 of the UK’s best and most inspiring fitness trainers to join him on his mission to make the world a fitter, happier and healthier place. Former GA resident Leroy Andre Williamson was selected from over 5,000 applicants to become one of the first new trainers on The Body Coach fitness team.
Q. Leroy, what was the application process like to become part of The Body Coach Team?
A. The application process involved a 2-minute video of why I wanted to join the team and what fitness meant to me. I was then shortlisted to the final 30. We had to do live talks with Joe and submit a 5-minute workout video for him to try. I was very nervous waiting to find out but I got a voice message from Joe saying I was in his top 5. We then had a zoom interview but he couldn’t decide, so we had to go to London to meet Joe and his brother.
Q. How did you feel when you were selected from over 5,000 applicants?
A. I couldn’t believe it. I was shaking. I jumped up and down on the bed and had a little happy cry.
Q. What does your new role involve and what do you love most about it?
A. My new role with The Body Coach team involves creating and filming home workouts for YouTube and for The Body Coach App. I’m still nervous filming the workouts, but I really love it when I hear that people are doing them on their TVs at home and feeling the benefits from them.
Q. What exciting new projects do you have coming up?
A. I have signed a partnership with Lululemon (Lululemon is an athletic apparel company). I will be running fitness events with them in the UK and appearing on their adverts.
Q. What do you miss about living in GA?
A. I really miss the people. GA was where it all began for me. I am so grateful for all the love and support people have shown me. I could not have done any of this without you all.
