Hi, I’m Jemma..

I share what I continue to learn from animals through my work as a volunteer with them at www.satanimalrescue.com and at
www.easyhorsecare.net

Sometimes, when more dogs come to the kennels and no new homes have been found for a while, when yet more malnourished and abandoned horses or donkeys arrive at Easy horsecare, which is already overflowing, I arrive to walk the dogs or to poo pick in the fields, my own personal commitments in the UK drawing near, I find myself feeling overwhelmed with the enormity of the work to do and that how small a contribution I make, which I guess is how many of us feel given the vastness and varying problems and dilemmas we face personally and globally.

At these times I am reminded of the touching story of a child who, when walking along a beach encountered thousands of dying starfish washed up by a storm. She/he started to pick up and gently take a starfish to the sea. “ You can never pick up all those starfish so why are you even trying “said his mother …”because for every one that I do, it has a chance to recover and live on… “ answered the child …………

As I go about my life and work new insights regularly filter in and I thought that I would broaden this monthly piece from time to time to include short anecdotes from others peoples experiences of wonder and connection with animals. So please do send me any you have via email:

In a pub this month I noticed a dog with its head on a woman’s lap, its eyes meeting the eyes of the woman, both with such love that it literally brought tears to my own eyes, such that I was moved to go over and say hello. And how so often do we feel that we would like to go over and make contact with someone, and don’t due to so many reasons like fear, embarrassment or shyness…

My message this month is if you do feel moved by your heart GO AND MAKE THAT CONTACT… The woman’s name is Tasha and her dog is Misty, and she shared with me through some tears her story, how her dog has helped heal her and that at one time she couldn’t go out the house and only through her connection with Misty did she start being able to again…..

I have also been drawn to Diane Cooper Archangel Animal cards this month, of which I will draw one for the month from time to time, so see if it resonates with you at all … oracle cards can be a useful way to help connect to your inner self, to bring new insights to a situation, to help clarify a thought or feeling, to enjoy the images and what that can bring up, or to just give a new insight to consider and reflect on …

And to leave with sharing that LoungeD, MASA Square have so kindly offered to host the upcoming Charity Eve for SATS on Thursday 3rd October, which will be a funfilled event with lots of local talent, so please come support us and if you have a hidden talent you can share with us please do …
Until next month …

Please get in touch with SAT or Easy Horse if you are interested in volunteering in any way. Jemma x
