June is the month for one of the biggest fiestas in Spain “ Bonfires of St. John” the fiesta in the streets takes place from the 20th to 24th, also bull fighting from the 17th to the 24th and one more extra fight on the 3rd August.
The cartoon monuments will set up in the streets on the 20th and they will be burnt on the night of the 24th. After the burning of the monuments, on the next five days there will be a fantastic international fireworks contest at midnight on Postiguet beach.
On the night of the 23rd, hundreds of fires will be lit on the beach to celebrate ancestral rituals and traditions; there will also be a fiesta in Santa Pola on Levante beach as usual.
Also all these municipalities that celebrate their main fiestas, Moors and Christians in: Elda 7th to 11th, Benjuzar , Teulada-Moraira 17th, Pego, Agost and Benissa 29th to 2nd June.
This month and the first days in July Santa Pola becomes a very sporty place, here are some examples:
On the 22nd, 23rd and 24th the VII handball Tournement, will be held on the football field “Els Xiprerets”.
On the 8th of July takes place the International open waters swim Tabarca-Santa Pola, This year a new record with more than 1600 swimmers participating from 13 countries.
