May has arrived with lots of fiestas and parades of Moors and Christians. Let’s start with the most famous one in Spain, which is held in Alcoy. This year the Alcoy’s festivities have been postponed to May. The 4th of May is the date for the big parade. One of my favourite parades is the one that takes please in Biar. The best day to visit Biar is on the 10th of May when you experience fiesta, tradition, music, fireworks and a lot more.
There are, of course, more parades scheduled for May. The programme is more or less as it follows: Petrer 16th to 20th, Muro de Alcoy 10th to 134h, Salinas 27th to 28th.
Also there are special events like the one held in Torrevieja from the 8th to 12th called “Feria de Mayo” or “Romería de San Pascual” another popular pilgrimage worth seeing form 17th to 19th in Monforte del Cid – Orito.
I also recommend “Las Cruces de Mayo” Cross-of May – when crosses are made with flowers. Come and have a look in la Cruz Street in Santa Pola to get an idea about what it is like. The most beautiful ones are shown in the old quarter of Alicante “Barrio la Cruz”
From 7th to 9th of June the international Karate tournament will take place in Santa Pola.
That’s all for May my friends.
