FRIDAY NIGHT SUMMER FISH AND CHIP COMPETITION

The competition started on Friday 19th July and ran for seven weeks, finishing on Friday 30th August. It started at 6pm and consisted of twelve ends, after which everyone had a well-earned drink then over to the square for fish and chips or their preferred meal at the Belfry.

The overall winner was the player with the most accumulated shots from their best five games. The results and prizes were given after the last game by the organisers, to the winner and runner up.

Runner Up: Lynne Armitage with a score of seventy-two shots
Winner: Neil Crawford with a very impressive score of ninety-five shots

GOLDEN WEDDING

Saturday 24th August – Congratulations to Colin and Cindy Bedford who celebrated their Golden Wedding on 24th August. Colin and Cindy celebrated with a few friends on a cruise around the Mediterranean which they all enjoyed.

CHICKEN RUN

Sunday 25th August – It was another very hot day and there were a few members away so only eighteen took part in August’s chicken run. We played three rinks of trips with a well needed break after seven ends for drinks. The chickens were won by Janet Parker with nineteen shots and Alan Lewis with twenty two shots. The eggs were won by Sheila Roberts and David Marsh. Thank you to Marilyn and David Marsh who donated the chickens and Ian and Julia Hamilton with the help of the chickens who donated the eggs. The football card was won by Joan Harding with Coventry.

Jessica a barmaid at the club is leaving to have a baby, Joan organised a collection which she gave to her after the chicken run and Jessica was very delighted.

MONTEMAR WEEKEND COMPETITION

On the weekend of the 14th and 15th September we held a two day club competition.

Twelve teams of trips played three games of nine ends each day. We had a break after each nine ends for refreshments we also enjoyed savouries supplied by members. The winners were Diane Horsington, Tony Kershaw and David Eades, Club Captain Steve Hindle presented them with vouchers donated by Jackie at the Reiki Room. The runners up were Marilyn Marsh, Paul Saunders and John Hunt.

Steve thanked Jan, Heidi and Debs for their help with the selling of the raffle tickets and savouries. After the raffle draw Chris thanked Sue and Joan for organising the raffle and the prizes. The football card was won by Paul Saunders.

Thank you to Steve for organising the competition also Sue and Les who manned the control desk, it was a very successful weekend.

EMERALD WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
