FRIENDSHIP CUP

Wednesday 20th September 

We  played the friendship cup match with La Marina the first since before Covid. Ten members played at home and ten played at La Marina. We had a very enjoyable morning although we only won on one rink at home and lost on all rinks at La Marina. Well done to the winning team Paul Dodd, Steve Leatherland skip Barry Watson.

CHICKEN RUN

Sunday 24th September

Twenty-eight members took part in the monthly chicken run so we played one rink of pairs and four rinks of trips. As it was still very hot we only played fourteen ends with a break after seven. The ladies chicken was won by Janet Parker with 19 shots, Steve Leatherland won the men chicken with twenty four shots. The eggs were won by Julia Hamilton and Tony Kershaw, as Julia donated the eggs she auctioned them donating the money to the club. Thank you to Janet Parker who donated the chickens and Julia and Ian Hamilton who donated the eggs, helped by the chickens. The football card was won by Jim Shearing with Rangers. Thank you to Joan, Sue and Sheila who helped and all members who attended and made it another successful chicken run. 

VISITING TEAMS

Saturday 30th September

We hosted a visiting team from Eggham Bowling Club. The bowling was very competitive and enjoyed by everyone. After the game we enjoyed a few drinks and a chat with the visitors, Barry Watson won the football card with Portsmouth. After the visitors left we enjoyed a lovely meal at James Bar & Grill.

The second visitors were from Congresbury Bowls Club. Another enjoyable friendly game of bowls after which, once again we enjoyed drinks and a chat in the Rincon. Chris from Congresbury won the football card with Arsenal.

WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

As we didn’t enter the Winter League the Club Captain Steve has organised a Internal Winter League, starting 4th October. The league will run for twelve weeks the rinks will be picked on the day. 

CAR BOOT SALE

On Sunday 8th October we did another car boot sale in aid of the club funds. It went very well, we sold all the household items and the clothes that were left we gave to charity. Thank you Sue, Joan, Lynne, Des and Sheila who organised and did the car boot sale.

SOCIAL EVENTS

Christmas shopping trip to La Zenia followed by lunch at La Cosecha 7th November. Christmas lunch at Portico Mar Guadamar 10th December. All details are on the Social board at the bowls club.
