Montemar Bowls & Social Club August Update

WEEKEND BOWLING WITH INDALO BOWLS CLUB

After a three years gap we had a weekend competition with our friends from Indalo. We played six rinks of rinks on both days. On the first day Indalo won 10 – 2 after the game we all met at 7pm for dinner at Gran Mundo. The evening went very well everyone enjoyed the food, the conversation was good and the drinks flowed. On the second day Monte Mar won 10 – 2 after the shots were added we were the winners by twenty shots and won the cup.

It was a lovely weekend and great to see everyone from Indalo. I’m sure all Monte Mar bowlers will look forward to the return match at Indalo next year.

FRIENDLY GAME

Monday 20th June 

We played our second friendly game against San Miguel at home. It was another enjoyable mornings bowling played in lovely sunshine. After the game we enjoyed a chat and drinks in the Tavern. It’s so good to be back bowling against other clubs.

BARBECUE

On Saturday 25th June after two cancellations we held a barbecue at the Santara Resort.  The food was well cooked by chefs Ian Hamilton and Rod Chamberlain with their assistant Les Bounds, thank you boys!!! It was a very enjoyable barbecue followed by dancing and chatting until the early evening. Thank you to Sue, Joan and Sheila for organising the venue and the food and everyone else who helped. Another  successful club social event.

CHICKEN RUN

Sunday 26th July

Twenty four members turned up for the monthly chicken run so we played four rinks of trips. As it was very hot morning it was decided we would play fourteen ends with a refreshment break after seven ends. The chickens were won by Jan Soars and Paul Dodd, the eggs by Jean Chamberlain and Colin Bedford. Thank you to Ronnie Cairns and June Young who donated the chickens and Julia and Ian Hamilton who donated the eggs. Thank you to all played and made it another successful fun competition.

ROUND ROBIN COMPETITION

The ladies of the club played each other in the Round Robin Competition, over a couple of months. After everyone had played the winner Jean Chamberlain was presented with a prize.  Thank you to Cindy for organizing the competition and congratulations to Jean the winner.
