INDALO WEEKEND
Saturday 21st – 22nd June: Twenty one bowlers went down to Mojacar to play our annual match with our friends from Indalo Bowls Club. The weather was scorching which meant on the first day we weren’t able to complete the eighteen ends. On the second day as we played in the morning all eighteen ends were completed. Both days saw some excellent bowling from both teams. Unfortunately for us Indalo won the cup back. So all to play for next year. On both evenings everyone enjoyed dinner and a get together for a few after dinner drinks. Thanks to Cindy for organising a very enjoyable weekend.
CHICKEN RUN
Sunday 29th June: As the weather has been extremely hot it was decided we would only play fourteen ends with a refreshment break after seven ends. The chickens were won by Des Freeman with twenty eight shots and Bill Winterburn with twenty five shots. Maggie Crawford and Neil Help won the eggs. Thank you to Leslie and Graham Smythe who sponsored the chickens, Julia and Ian Hamilton who sponsored the eggs. The football card was won by Gerry (visiting from Scotland) with Leicester. As usual everyone who played enjoyed the morning.
FRIENDSHIP CUP
Monday 30th June: We had a good morning bowling at La Marina Bowls Club although it was very hot. The bowls went La Marinas way but the second half of the competition will be held at Monte Mar in September so hopefully we can reverse the result then. After the game we enjoyed lunch with the players from La Marina.
BARBEQUE
Saturday 5th July: Twenty eight members attended the summer barbeque. The chefs did a great job, thank you to Ian, Maggie Crawford and Steve Leatherland. Also thank you to Ian and Julia Hamilton for arranging everything. It was a lovely afternoon enjoyed by all.
FRIDAY SUMMER LEAGUE
Friday 11th July: The first Friday Summer League went very well. We played two rinks of trips and one rink of pairs. As it is still very hot we only played twelve ends, everyone agreed that was enough. After playing we went to the Belfry where we enjoyed a meal and drinks. As it was Lynne’s birthday we gave her a cake and of course sang Happy Birthday.
