Dinner Dance
It was a full house for the dinner dance held at the Belfry. Forty eight bowling and social members attended, in fact we had to turn people away. The new team Lisa, James and staff served a excellent carvery. The entertainment was by Woody. After dinner everyone enjoyed a few drinks,a chat and of course a few dances. Monte Mar Bowls Club would like to wish James and Lisa every success.
Sunday 24th June
Chicken Run
The monthly chicken run was attended by twenty four social and bowling members. The chickens donated by Tanya Oliver and Jack Burrell, were won by Sheila Roberts and Howie Williams. Howie auctioned his chicken raising five euros for the club. Carol Packer and Ken White won the fresh eggs, donated by Julia and Ian Hamilton. Roger Packer and Wendy Sheridan also won eggs donated by Joan and Chris Harding.
Monday 25th June
Monte Mar Torros v San Luis Hercules
A great performance by the Torros in there last game of the season against second in the league Hercules. The Torros won on five rinks and losing by only three shots on our losing rink. With one match left for some clubs only Country Bowls can match our points total but they will need to win 14 – 0 and more than seventy shots to pip the Torros for the league title. Well done to everyone who has played for the Torros during the season.

Monte Mar Lords v San Miguel Deputies
Away to the Depities for the last VCL match, the lords won on two rinks. Well done to Pauline Woodfine (singles), John Hunt, Jack Burrell (pairs). A big thank you to all who played for the Lords during the season.

TORROS WIN THE LEAGUE
With no match on the last day of the Spring/Summer Harrier Division we had to wait until Tuesday morning 3rd July to get confirmation that the Torros had won the league by six points. This was a great result for Monte Mar being the first time we had won any league for a few years.
On Friday 6th July the squad had a great afternoon at Marito Kitchen the good food was washed down with a good helping of beer and wine, followed by Cava to toast our success. So a big well done to everyone who contributed to our achievement.
Gran Alacant Mixed Rinks
The mixed rinks competition will commence on Saturday 15th September until
Monday 17th September. There will be a cake stand on the first day.
Granada Trip
A trip to Granada is taking place from Wednesday 19th September until Saturday 22nd September. Anyone interested in playing bowls or just would like to join as a social member please contact membership secretary Les Bounds, Telephone number 966699130.
