AWAY TRIP
Monday – Friday May 22nd – 26th
Members of Monte Mar along with some friends from Vistabella and La Marina travelled down to La Posada and Saydo Bowls Clubs, situated in land from Malaga. We had three days in the company of both teams and made some new friends while there. Both La Posada and Saydo have four rinks so we played morning and afternoon. Both clubs have excellent facilities, we are looking forward to La Posada visiting us in the near future.
We then moved on to Indalo for two days to play in the Challenge Cup and meet up with some friends. Unfortunately the wheels fell off and we lost the cup.
Once again thank you all for five great days.
LA SIESTA OPEN BOWLS COMPETITION
Saturday – Monday June 3rd – 5th
for the second year running Monte Mar Bowls Club were successful in winning the three day La Siesta mixed trips competition. The team consisted of Jean and Rod Chamberlain and skip Bill Young. After winning all their group games they came up against another Monte Mar team in the semi-finals, Ronnie Cairns, June Young and skip Dave Melville. It was a close fought game but Jean, Rod and Bill were the winners, they then had to play one of Siesta’s strongest teams in the final. La Siesta needed two to draw on the last end, they were holding two but Bill with his last wood drew the shot to win the competition. Well done to Monte Mar.
SUNDAY LUNCH AT LA COVA
Sunday June 11th
Fifty nine bowling and social members attended a lunch at La Cova in el Cambello. The lunch was booked for 2.30 but the members wanted to have a stroll along the seafront so we left Monte Mat at 12.30. The food was delicious and the drinks flowed freely. Once again a good time was had by all. A big thank you to the social committee.
