Background

Alba opened her Podiatry Clinic ‘Happy Feet’ on Monday 24th February 2025 at Evoca Living, formerly Santara Life Resort. Since then, many of Gran Alacant’s residents have been enjoying the very best in foot care from her.

Although the clinic in Gran Alacant has only been open a short time, Alba has been working as a podiatrist for over 10 years.

Where did you work before?

ALBA: “I worked in a Podiatry Clinic in Murcia and commuted every day. When my second daughter was born I knew that my time in Murcia was over and that I had to move to this area.”

Why did you choose Evoca Living?

“Ever since I finished my degree I have always been clear about one thing: ‘If I ever opened a clinic it would be in Gran Alacant.’ I believe it is a wonderful place to open a Podiatry Clinic. When the opportunity came up in the beautiful Evoka Living resort I took the plunge. This clinic was born from the need to create a relaxing, comfortable space for my patients.”

What made you get into podiatry?

“It was my father who encouraged me to study podiatry. I really wanted to be a physiotherapist.
Now I am grateful to my father for encouraging me to study podiatry.”

Why is it so important to look after our feet?

Looking after your feet is crucial for overall health and well-being because they are the foundation of your body, supporting your weight and enabling mobility. Healthy feet can prevent pain, improve balance, and reduce the risk of falls and injuries. Neglecting foot care can lead to various problems, including infections, chronic pain, and even affect your overall health.

Here´s why foot care is so important:

Mobility and Independence

Healthy feet are essential for walking, running, and other physical activities, allowing you to maintain an active lifestyle and remain independent.

Pain Prevention

Proper foot care can prevent common issues like corns, calluses, ingrown toenails, and bunions, which can cause pain and discomfort.

Posture and Balance

The complex structure of your feet plays a vital role in maintaining good posture and balance. Foot problems can affect your gait and lead to pain in other joints like your knees, hips, and back.

Overall Health Indicator

Foot problems can be early signs of underlying health conditions like diabetes, arthritis, or poor circulation.

Infection Prevention

Proper hygiene and foot care can prevent infections, especially in individuals with diabetes or other conditions that affect circulation and nerve function.

Improved Quality of Life

Taking care of your feet can improve your overall quality of life by reducing pain, increasing mobility, and enhancing your ability to participate in daily activities.

Reduced Risk of Falls

Foot pain or instability can increase the risk of falls, especially in older adults. Healthy feet contribute to better balance and stability, reducing the likelihood of falls.

What’s the best thing about your job?

“I love everything about my job and feel very fortunate to be able to work in podiatry. I try to convey my passion for my work to my patients by offering a high-quality, personalised service where everyone feels like they are at home.

I believe prevention is the best tool we have for good health. What I like most about my job is seeing how thankful people are for giving them a better quality of life through foot care. I am facinated by feet which motivates me to continue developing in my profession.”
