Happy New Year to you all!!! Hope you all have a great time with the ones you love. Lets start 2018 with good intentions and new dishes. It has been very cold lately, so lets keep making hot dishes. This month I have decided to make Beef Stew with red wine. Hope you enjoy it,

  • 800 gr beef cut into chunks
  • 380 gr carrots
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 garlic gloves
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 500 ml red wine
  • 500 ml water
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt and pepper (to taste)

Let’s Start

Chop carrots, peel and finely chop the onion and garlic. Pour olive oil into a large pot and heat on medium heat. While oil is heating, season the beef with salt and pepper and coat with flour. Add the beef into the pot and brown. Then remove the beef from the pot and set aside. Add the carrots, onions and garlic in the same oil and cook utill the onions turn transparent. Chop the tomato and add to the pot. Add the meat to the pot too. Raise heat to high and add red wine, cook for few minutes, then add the water and bay leaf. Bring to a boil then lower the heat. Simmer loosely covered for 2 hours stiring occasionally, adding water if needed. Add salt and pepper if needed. Serve very hot with crusty bread.
