What is Silver Swans?
The Royal Academy of Dance developed Silver Swans in response to a growing demand for ballet classes for older learners. These classes are delivered exclusively by Silver Swans Licensees accredited by the Royal Academy of Dance. Licensees are located all around the world and Verity is the only Silver Swans Licensee in Alicante. Classes are for older learners of any ability and although targeted at those aged over 55, there is no upper or lower age limit to be a Silver Swan. These classes will help to improve coordination, mobility, posture and energy levels. Most importantly, these classes are an opportunity to have fun and enjoy a sense of wellbeing that dance brings.
Why did you choose to become a Silver Swans Licensee?
I was part of the first pilot stage of the Silver Swans initiative when I was working for the Royal Academy of Dance in 2016. Before moving to Gran Alacant, I delivered Silver Swans classes in East Sussex to over 60 participants each week where I witnessed ladies falling in love with dance and making new long-term friendships. I am excited to now start Silver Swans classes in Gran Alacant and see the benefits that it brings to our community.
