IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Monte Mar Bowls Club has been a valued part of the Gran Alacant community for more than two decades, providing not only sporting facilities but also an important social space for residents. For many – particularly older members – it has offered opportunities to stay active, enjoy the outdoors and maintain strong social connections.
The club is currently facing an uncertain future following reported changes in property ownership. It is understood that the site may have changed hands in 2021 and again in 2024. During this period, the club continued to operate under its existing arrangements with the former owners.
The new owners have recently taken steps to restrict access to the premises, including securing the site and limiting entry. This has resulted in the suspension of club activities and has understandably caused concern among members and the wider community.
Monte Mar Bowls Club has long been more than a sports venue; it represents a social hub where friendships are formed and community ties are strengthened. The temporary loss of access has had a noticeable impact, particularly among long-standing members.
The club has now sought legal advice and is reviewing its position with the aim of resolving the situation constructively. At the same time, members have expressed a desire for clarity regarding the future of the site, especially in light of previous expectations with local authorities that it would remain dedicated to sporting use.
Monte Mar Bowls Club remains committed to its members and to the community it has served for over 20 years. Further updates will be shared as the situation develops.
