How are you all feeling this winter? I think it has been milder than the previous year but I am still noticing a lot of my clients have been affected by the seasonal cold & flu bugs.

At this time of year an Indian Head massage is always a good treatment choice as it helps with a multitude of common head colds etc. it is a great choice for anyone feeling tired/fatigue, stressed with work, symptoms of sinus problems, suffer headaches, or those who want to stimulate their hair growth etc.

Indian head massage also helps to renew your energy levels, detoxifying the body by stimulating lymphatic drainage, relieves sleeplessness and insomnia and can boost the memory capabilities.

In India the head massage has been a tradition passed down many families and learned from a very young age, it is a big part of their every day lives, it is a non- invasive treatment and you can stay fully clothed throughout. When we feel stressed our scalp becomes tense and this restricts the blood flow, by having regular head massages it helps stimulate the blood flow to the follicles and loosens up the areas delivering nutrients needed to encourage a healthy mind, stress free head, healthy hair growth and promote some lovely shiny strong hair.

It is a very relaxing massage, I prefer to do it with my client lying down but it can also be performed in seated positions. Depending on the persons preference.

Ayurvedic practitioners use some carrier oil to work the massage, I personally like to use some essential oils along with it in my carrier oil as there can be many blends for different problems, to assist hair growth, lessen migraine, relieve eczema symptoms, improve acne problems etc.

It is a great way to clear the mind and unblock the airways, following it with a mini facial is a lovely little add on with its own benefits. It soothes the eyes and sinuses by working on the different pressure points around the face and head.

Some oils I would use in wanting to stimulate their hairgrowth would be Rosemary, Lavender, Cedarwood, Ylang Ylang to name a few. There are also some I would use to massage around the jaw area if the client is prone to cold sores (works a dream) and others I would use for some who experience bad earaches etc. there are many oils for many different things, and its always a good choice to use calming/anti-inflammatory oils for people prone to headaches.
