When I was young I attended every dance class going: tap, ballet, majorettes, modern, highland, country, disco, rock and roll.  There were dancing certificates, medals, trophies, competitions; you name it, I absolutely LOVED to dance!

When I hit my teenage years, dancing was replaced with hanging out with friends and weekend jobs in a bakery and a chip shop.  As my energy output decreased and my calorie intake increased, it wasn’t long before the weight piled on.

By the time I realised eating lots of cakes and chips and not dancing was not good for my waistline, it was too late …  I was FAT!  I spent years in an unhealthy relationship with food.  I tried fad diets, diet books, slimming clubs, I even made myself sick, popped laxatives (that was painful) and deprived myself of the food I loved, making myself hungry and completely miserable.

I wanted to try fitness classes in an effort to lose weight but I felt too self-conscious and unfit to be seen in public, so I bought Cher’s Step VHS (showing my age here) and worked out religiously EVERY morning.  When my fitness levels grew, my confidence grew and I started attending fitness classes and that was me HOOKED!  The buzz I experienced working out with groups of like-minded people was amazing, literally sent shivers up and down my spine.

Fast forward to today and I feel so incredibly grateful to share my passion teaching fitness.  I moved to Gran Alacant 5 years ago and within a year had my dream job at Santara Resort as Fitness Co-ordinator working with groups of Dutch clients who suffer from Burnout.  Burnout is a state of emotional, physical and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress.  I have learned so much in the last few years and have met so many inspiring people who gave me the confidence to set up my own BootCamps, Small Group Training and Personal Training in Gran Alacant.

The BootCamp groups run in 4 week blocks and clients NEVER fail to impress me with their results (I tear up every time and have actually been known to cry).  Not only do they increase their fitness levels, they also lose inches and lose weight.  But most importantly we all have fun and celebrate our wins with monthly social outings. 

I also do Personal Training and Small Group Training with amazing young mums and dedicated professionals working round their busy schedules.  Their determination to improve their fitness really inspires me to make every session count.  

Fitness classes were only intended to help me lose weight but today it is my job, my hobby and my passion.  The best thing about my job is the clients I work with.  Watching people get fit and have fun in a safe and friendly environment lights up my life.  I absolutely love my job and I love the people I am blessed to work with. 

Now that the hotter Summer months are coming I’m excited for the NEW AQUA BOOTCAMP classes starting on Monday 31st May at 9am and to working with new venue owner Bernar at BERNAR’S PLACE, Leisure Complex in Monte y Mar.
