MAY I COME IN WITH MY DOG?

YES, OF COURSE (ONLY IF YOU ARE AT BASQUE COUNTRY)

Cities such as Logroño, San Sebastián or Vitoria are not as big as Madrid, so we can have a walk and visit their whole historic centres. And we can take our dog to bars (always asking for permission first, just in case), we must add. All the bars we visited last October in our Autumn holidays at northern Spain and Basque Country allowed our dog to come in. “If he behaves and doesn’t bark, he is welcome here”. And this was valid for cheap bars and also for expensive, avant-garde “pintxos” specialized, restaurants.

20161008_150231bWe are talking of dog friendly and very clean cities. Dogs were allowed even at La Concha beach at San Sebastián. We would like this non habitual condition to be more common at our area: in one hand, to be able to enjoy our pets everywhere, but in the other hand, as a sine-qua-non requirement to make this possible, pet owners should be more “city-friendly”, for example being careful with their pet’s motions and urine (a plastic bag and a water bottle are enough), and avoiding fights (walking the dogs on the lead). Otherwise being so permissive with dogs and keeping the city reasonably clean at the same time would be impossible.
