We would like to thank the TOURISM COUNCILLOR for enabling Jose Manuel Blasco to join our magazines monthly column. Many of you will surely have met Jose at the Tourist Information Counter in Santa Pola. He always exudes enthusiasm for all that is happening in our area.

Here are his suggestions of “Where to visit” and ‘What to see” for this month

This month you can enjoy so many different activities in Costa Blanca. It is impossible to describe them all, however this could be a good sample. In Santa Pola there is a cultural programme with plenty of activities to suit all tastes. You can find it on tourisms web site: www.turismosantapola.es

Also every day and in every little corner on the Costa Blanca you can enjoy a fiesta or a parade in different villages or towns, main parades of Moors and Christians in Aspe 7th to 10th, Cocentaina, Elche 9th to 12th, Verger, Castell de Castells, Benilloba 14th to 18th, Xixona 22nd to 25th and Camp de Mirra 22nd to 26th.

Also really special activities like “Misterio de Elche” Cultural World Heritage Event 11th to 15th and “Nit de l’Alba” on the 13th a fantastic display of fire works in Elche, not less important and impressive “Castell de L’Olla”, on 6th in Altea a beautiful combination with fire works and music, just to have an idea there will be burnt more than seven thousand kilos of powder.

The first week in September will be the start of the local fiestas, 31st August, the inauguration, opening speech, 1st and 2nd the mock battles, conquer and reconquer of the Castle and 3rd of September, something not to be missed, the main parade of Moors and Christians.

Bye bye for now.
