“I’ve just finished my month of volunteering at Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre in Rojales, Spain, and I can say without any doubt that my experience has been exactly what I came here for.
“I was completely heartbroken after losing my fiancé to cancer in February 2017 and I was absolutely dreading Christmas without my fiancé. Then I heard about Easy Horse Care. I thought being away and helping the beautiful animals might help me.
“I can’t explain the peace these beautiful animals give … just standing in the paddock with the hilarious donkeys or having a hug from Rosie the horse. She gives hugs and I’ve had a lot! It’s something that just takes you away from everything that reality of life brings.
“This is not just a rescue centre. The animals here all have their own horrific story of neglect, suffering and abuse, and all they want to give back is love – and that’s exactly what I got.
“Not everyone is an animal lover and I get that, but even if you’re not, just spend an hour here. I know it’ll turn into you staying for the day and then coming back the day after.
“The sun has shone every day here while England has had snow – and you’ll get an experience you’ll never forget. I know I never will and I’m definitely coming back.
“Please also consider donating. Sue and Rod run this place on donations alone. They are working tirelessly every single day, plus running the charity shops, to ensure these animals have a happy and loved life.
“Fudge now has a very special place in my heart, as do all the beautiful animals here. I have my favourites but it’s hard not to love all 109-plus animals here. Photos don’t do this absolutely wonderful, special place justice. I was so sad to leave that I cried when I left.
“It had been such an unforgettable and amazing experience – I shall definitely be volunteering again.”
